Reinstall

A simple reinstall keeps your preferences. A clean reinstall wipes everything first, for persistent bugs or frozen data.

Connection problem (Authorization needed, a provider stuck on an error or frozen)? Try Settings -> Providers -> Reset connection first: it keeps every setting.

Simple reinstall

Download the DMG, replace TokenEater in Applications, relaunch. With Homebrew: brew reinstall --cask tokeneater. Keep the app in /Applications so in-app updates keep working.

Clean reinstall

  1. Run the full clean.
  2. Download the latest release and drag TokenEater into Applications (Homebrew: see the end of the full clean page).
  3. Launch it and redo the setup (First launch).
  4. Re-add your widgets.
This erases every preference: theme colors, saved Studio layouts and templates, notification choices. There is no export, so note what you want to rebuild. Your Claude Code and Codex logins are kept.
